Boys (and Girls) of Summer

This Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial launch of Summer '08. Depending on where you are on the U. S. map, your summer may have started long ago, or for others, you still have a few weeks before you can fire up the grill and break out the summer gear. No matter what your temperature gauge is reading, your little ones are ready for some fun in the sun.

Something About Baby has a wide selection of adorable summer attire for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kids (and lots of matching items for siblings). Summer dresses in blue gingham, pink toile, and other fabulous designs are everywhere and if you are trying to dress the boys, we have plenty of adorable summer clothes for the little guy.

The Hamptons Navy Pique Romper with Tennis White Trim ($58) is the perfect outfit for casual play or formal events. And, we have plenty of gingham rompers in great colors with "dude" things, like sailboats, baseball, tractors, dinosaurs, airplanes and snails.

If you need the perfect sibling outfit, check out the Garden Princess in Midnight Pansy ($48), available in baby and children's sizes up to size 8. The magazines are full of celebrity babies wearing these traditional personalized children's clothing and they are ideal for a family photo. What could be more perfect for that summer family reunion you have this summer?

Cover Up Your Little Bathing Beauty

The San Francisco Bay area has been experiencing an unseasonal heat wave and we have been trying to stay cool by visiting Grandma and Grandpa's house for a quick dip in the pool. Coco loves to swim, but she always doesn't love to wear her swimsuit. Who knew that our four-year-old daughter was such a nudist! She must think that she in the South of France instead of at Grandpa's house.

At any rate, we found the perfect solution -- a cute beach cover up monogrammed with her initials. She loves to run around in her fashionable poolside attire and she even slips it on after her bath. She calls it her "beach dress". If your little beach bunny needs to be covered, check out the swim suit cover ups ($40) at www.somethingaboutbaby.com. We have a large selection of colors available and these personalized items make terrific gifts.

Something About Mother's Day

There is just something about Mother's Day that gives us a reason to celebrate and to think about this occasion as more than a "Hallmark holiday". This May ritual is an opportunity to honor not only our own mother, but also the women who have meant so much to us. As a child, I remember waking up on Mother's Day as my mother was preparing crepes (truly a labor of love) and fresh orange juice. To her, slaving away in the kitchen for her family was the ideal day for her and we happily devoured her creations. When I became a mother four years ago, I wondered how I would choose to spend my so-called holiday. So many like to sleep in, enjoy breakfast in bed, get dressed up, go to a fancy brunch, drink mimosas and admire the flowers and gifts presented to them. Sounds like great fun, but I decided for something a bit different. Rather than dressing up and eating way too much, I will celebrate by talking a walk by the San Francisco Bay with my husband, daughter and five-month-old puppy and enjoy the sunshine (well, in San Francisco, it will be filtered through the fog), think about my mother and her delicious crepes (maybe she is making them in Heaven too!) and then stopping by the nursery to buy some roses that will (hopefully) bloom in time for Mother's Day next year. Having said that, I wouldn't mind a mimosa and I will be toasting all of you on this day.

Keepsake gifts are a wonderful addition to mommy's jewelry box. I found this adorable baby shoe necklace that is so fun for new mommy's and a popular "push present".

It's a match made in heaven! A pair of pavé set crystal toe baby shoes -- perfect as a new mother's gift -- play inside a beautiful heart, all in sterling silver. The Swarovski crystals baby toes shoe necklaces are available in pink, blue and white. You can order one for $180.00 by visiting www.somethingaboutbaby.com

Take care and thank you for visiting,
